About This Blog

The spirit of this blog goes back fifteen years or longer.  In 2000 or 2001 I first began working on a web site of the same name through the now-defunct Yahoo! Geocities.  The site started extremely small with the intention of putting a few song lyrics up and keeping lists of unreleased material; something I had already been keeping offline as a hobby for several years.  As my audio/video collection grew thanks to trading, I was cataloging more and more information offline.  Eventually, I decided I wanted to share this information with others in the fan community so they wouldn't go through the same struggles I did getting everything organized when I began trading.  As I continued trading I continued logging even more information in until the site eventually had more than 2,500 pages and was still growing rapidly.

Around 2006, my interests began to change and life changed for me meaning I didn't have as much free time to work on the old site and update it frequently so it was closed.  I zipped all the old web site files up and saved them to external drives, CD-R's and my hard drive.  In 2012, my house burned turning all my old files, shows, demo discs, videos, etc., into ashes.  Now, I'm back to putting as much of the audio as I can back together.  This isn't an easy project as the "old school" demo discs I collected to extract all of my old pages from aren't traded as freely anymore as they once were.  The traders I worked with once aren't really trading anymore and tracks from the master reels are mixed in with the "common demos" without proper labeling leaving those old demo sets lost to time.  I dearly miss all of my old web site pages and audio/video discs and wish I'd uploaded them to an online storage site.  (If there's any one piece of advice I'd give to anyone:  upload anything you hold dear to secure online storage.  Pictures, audio, video--anything.  All the backups at home in the world will do you no good in the event of a fire!)

What This Blog Will Be:
Plain and simple, this will be an information-only blog.  You will find the occasional picture here and there to make things less boring and some linked You Tube videos but, for the most part, you will see a lot of text.  You should be able to find the information you're looking for (if it's been posted) without having to sort through tons of what you aren't looking for.  Think of this blog as sort of an "unreleased wiki".  ;-)

Over time (yes, this is going to take me a while!), I'd like to get the old discographies rebuilt to reflect versions of unreleased and released songs, concert set lists and their corresponding circulating boots, official remixes, media performances, information about released records, EP's, videos, etc., guest performances, remakes, soundtrack appearances, list of performed songs (in concert, benefit, etc.), Landslide dedications, recycled lyrics and more.  Right now this is a very optimistic view of things for me as I don't have near the collection of audio and video to cull information from as I did.  As I hopefully manage to put it back together the information here will grow into what I would like for it to be.

What This Blog Will Not Be:
I have no intention of doing any of the following:
  • editing any of the files posted: any files that are posted on this site will not be edited or changed in any way. They will be offered here exactly as I have found them. If, at any time, I find that any of the files I have here were edited from their original format for any reason (crowd noise removed, songs manipulated, fan edits, etc.) they will be removed immediately, a new source sought out and that new source will be posted. In the event I cannot find a new source, I will maintain the original edited files with a warning message posted so you can make an informed choice about the posted files.
  • reporting and cataloging news:  there are other sites out there who specialize in reporting news so well that I personally don't feel the need for another.  If you want to visit three of the very best I highly recommend Fleetwood Mac UK Resource, Fleetwood Mac News Blog and the Stevie Nicks Info Site.  You won't find any better sites for information than those three.
  • cataloging and presenting interviews: interviews will be kept to a bare minimum on this blog as what I am planning to work with is already an overwhelming workload. Any interviews that directly correlate with presented information and/or media will be included (i.e. interviews where snippets of songs were performed, etc.). If, at some point in the future, I am able to complete my original task I might go back and work on interviews. But don't hold your breath on that one. ;-)
  • Cataloging and presenting photographs:  again, there are other individuals who can do a much better job than I at sorting and cataloging photographs.  I don't have a large collection of photographs anymore and the thought of scouring the net to replace it is overwhelming to me considering the work ahead of me to replace just the audio.
  • doing and cataloging reviews of new releases:  I never did reviews on the old site and I will not here.  I want this to be an unbiased presentation of information.  I do not mind visitors leaving comments to my posts expressing their own opinions but I will not be making specific posts of my own.
  • doing and cataloging reviews of live shows:  as with the releases, I never did live reviews on the old site.  Again, I do not mind visitors leaving comments to the posts expressing their own opinions but I will not be reviewing any shows here apart from making the rare comment that a past show was a "great" or "energetic" show.
  • presenting an entire history of the band from inception to present day:  I, personally, am a fan of Fleetwood Mac from 1975 through 2002 with an occasional bit of liking for a recording for a show or two from later years.  Stevie Nicks, from 1981 to 2005-2006.  Lindsey from 1980-1992 with favorites from later years.  Christine from 1984-present.  Rick Vito from 1992-present.  Even though I'm not a great fan of some of the later years, I will still be cataloging that information here because I feel it is important as part of the bands history and because it is important to the online fan community.  I will not be listing anything from the Time era nor anything pre-White Album (1975).
As always, if you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to either make them as a comment to a post or email me directly.  I'll do my best to respond as quickly as possible.
